Our Story

A Revolution in Surgical Education

Surgeon inventor, and one of the founding members of SurgiSTUD, Michael Bohn, MD., noticed a gap between simulated training and what went on in the OR. With such a realization, he sought a better way to take the simulated training he experienced in the military to create a platform that would be beneficial for medical education.

The idea for the unique device was born through a novel program in neurosurgery resident education, medical device innovation, and medical device development at the renowned Barrow Neurological Institute. Using medical-grade software to render CT scans and anatomies, we create 3D renderings that translate to the cadaver models which are then biomechanically tested.

The result is a customizable model that is versatile while also driving efficiency and economic savings. The STUD platform allows for continuous, hands-on, real-life experience, ensuring surgeons’ confidence.
